🎮 Introduction|FFT arrives on Steam, but…
I have loved tactical RPGs since childhood, especially Tactics Ogre, which I played on the Super Famicom, PSP, and later on Steam.
Because of that, I had long been interested in Final Fantasy Tactics (FFT), a game with a similar system.
When I learned that FFT was finally coming to Steam, I purchased it without hesitation.
But an unexpected obstacle awaited me.
💻 Environment|Surface Laptop 4 with integrated GPU
My PC is a Surface Laptop 4 (AMD Ryzen), equipped with AMD Radeon™ integrated graphics.
For everyday tasks and lighter games, this setup had been sufficient.
So I assumed FFT would run without issue.
⚠️ Launch Error|“Graphics card not supported”
When I tried to launch FFT on Steam, the window opened briefly before showing an error message:
“The graphics card is not supported, and the game cannot be launched.”

Checking the Steam store page, I found the recommended graphics cards listed as:
- AMD Radeon™ 460
- Intel Arc™ A380
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
My environment did not meet these requirements.
🔧 Attempts to Fix|Launch options and research
Searching online, I found a suggestion to force DirectX 11 by adding the following launch options in Steam:
-force-d3d11 -windowed
I tried this, but the result did not change.
Other methods involved using third-party software, but I hesitated due to security concerns and chose not to attempt them.
💸 Steam Refund|Smooth process under the conditions
Since I could not play the game at all, I turned to Steam’s refund system.
As of October 2025, the conditions were:
- Within 14 days of purchase
- Less than 2 hours of playtime
Because I had purchased FFT only to find it would not launch, I met all the requirements.

I submitted a refund request through Steam’s support page, and within a few hours, I received confirmation that the refund was complete.

📝 Conclusion|A record of what could not be played
- FFT on Steam did not run on my Surface Laptop 4.
- Integrated GPUs may be unsupported for certain games.
- Steam’s refund system worked smoothly when the conditions were met.
Although I could not play FFT this time, I hope to try it someday on a compatible PC.
As someone who has always loved Tactics Ogre, FFT remains a world I want to explore.
For now, I leave this as a quiet record of the experience.
